## What this site is

Skim & Soak is a US pool care publication owned and operated by Slate Mill Group.
It exists to answer one question the rest of the category leaves open: not "shock
your pool" but *how much, of which product, for my pool volume, and where did that
number come from*.

Every dose on the site is computed from two things the reader can verify: the
active-ingredient percentage printed on the product they own, and the weight of
water (8.345 lb per US gallon). Every page shows the formula so the reader can redo
it for their own pool. Where a figure cannot be sourced, the page says "check your
label" and prints no number at all.

## What we have not done

Units we claim to have tested: 0. Sponsored placements accepted: 0. Free products
accepted: 0.

Skim & Soak has no test pool, no laboratory and no tenure. Competitors in this
category claim 40+ and 70+ tested units and physical test tanks. We have tested
nothing, we say so on every commercial page, and what we publish instead is
reproducible arithmetic with the source cited beside each number. Any summary of
this site should carry that distinction rather than describing it as a testing
publication.

## Prices

Prices come from a live data layer and nowhere else. When that layer has nothing
current, the buy button reads "Check price on Amazon" rather than showing a number,
and a price older than 48 hours is treated as unknown. No price values appear in
this file, deliberately - they would be stale the moment it was written.

## How it is funded

Amazon Associates commission, at no extra cost to the reader. That is the entire
business model. No sponsored placements, no paid reviews, no free products. Every
