Privacy Policy
How Skim & Soak handles data. Last updated September 2, 2026.
The short version
Skim & Soak is a publishing site. There are no accounts, no logins and nothing to sign up for. The only information you can give us is what you type into the contact form, and the only data collected automatically is anonymized traffic analytics.
We do not sell data. There is no data to sell.
What we collect
If you use the contact form
Your name, email address, chosen subject and message. That is sent to us as an email and used to reply to you. It is not added to a mailing list - there is no mailing list.
The form also records the moment the page loaded and your IP address, both purely as spam defenses: a submission completed in under three seconds is a bot, and the IP is used to rate-limit repeated submissions. Neither is retained beyond the request.
Automatically, while you read
If Google Analytics is enabled on this site, it records anonymized usage data - pages viewed, approximate location by region, device type, referrer and the outbound product links that get clicked. That is aggregate traffic measurement; it does not identify you and we cannot use it to.
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and operational purposes.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or share personal information.
- We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels.
- We do not have accounts, passwords or stored payment details.
- We do not send marketing email. There is no newsletter.
- We do not attempt to identify individual readers.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics, where enabled, sets its own analytics cookies. Your browser can block or delete those at any time and the site will work exactly as it does now - nothing here depends on a cookie.

Once you click through to Amazon you are on Amazon’s site and their privacy policy applies. We have no visibility of what you buy - affiliate reporting shows aggregate commission, not who bought what.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to request a copy of any personal data we hold, ask for it to be deleted, or object to its processing. Given the above, that will usually be a short conversation: unless you have emailed us, we hold nothing about you.

Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. There is no version history because there has only ever been this version.
