1. Using this site

By using Skim & Soak you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use the site - there is nothing else to agree to and no account to close.

2. This is information, not advice about your pool

This is the term that actually matters, so it is second rather than buried.

Everything here is general published information. We have never seen your pool, do not know its volume, its surface, its equipment or its current chemistry, and cannot assess any of it remotely. Nothing on this site is professional advice about your specific situation, and it does not replace a qualified pool professional where one is needed.

The product label always wins. Every dose on this site is a calculation you check against the bottle in your hand. If our figure and your label disagree, the label is correct - that is not just prudent, it is the legal position under the EPA rule that governs these products, as our methodology page sets out.

3. Chemicals and equipment

Pool chemicals can be hazardous. Some react dangerously with each other, several are corrosive, and mixing them - particularly different chlorine products - can produce toxic gas. Follow the safety instructions on the product, store chemicals separately, and never mix them.

We do not cover pool construction, resurfacing, gas work, high-voltage electrical work or structural repair, and nothing here should be read as an alternative to a licensed professional for any of those. You are responsible for your own safety and for anyone using your pool.

4. Accuracy

We work hard to be accurate and we publish our sources so you can check us. We do not warrant that everything here is free of error, and product specifications, formulations and availability change without notice.

If you find an error, please tell us - our editorial policy sets out what happens next.

5. Prices

Where a price appears on this site it comes from a live data layer and is stamped with the date it was checked. Where none appears, the button reads “Check price” rather than showing a stale figure.

Retail prices change constantly and the price shown at the retailer when you click is the one that applies. We are not the seller and have no control over pricing, availability, delivery or returns.

6. Affiliate links

Some links on this site earn us a commission at no extra cost to you, as set out in full on the affiliate disclosure. Every one is marked with #ad and carries the standard machine-readable marking.

We are not a party to any transaction between you and a retailer. Purchase terms, warranty, delivery and returns are entirely between you and them.

7. Content ownership

The writing, structure and original graphics on this site belong to Slate Mill Group. You are welcome to quote and link with attribution; wholesale reproduction of pages is not permitted.

Product images are served from the retailer’s own content delivery network and belong to their respective owners. Photography is licensed stock.

8. Links out

We link to manufacturer pages, published standards and government documents. We do not control those sites, are not responsible for their content, and a link is not an endorsement of anything beyond the specific fact we cited it for.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Slate Mill Group is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from acting on information published here. You use the information at your own discretion and are responsible for verifying it against your own product labels and circumstances.

10. Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top of this page reflects the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
